Chelsea coach Antonio Conte calls Alvaro Morata 'a good buy' after defeat

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte praised the battling contribution of new striker Alvaro Morata after his debut in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in Singapore, while Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti hailed his own newcomer James Rodriguez. Morata came on as a 63rd-minute substitute in the International Champions Cup clash with Chelsea trailing 3-1 and had a hand in the Blues' second goal, scored by Michy Batshuayi. "It's too early to speak about the impact of Morata," Conte said. "He has only been with us for two days and he needs time to work and find his feet and to understand our way of playing. "But he showed a will to win, to fight and adapt to our style of play. For us, he's a good buy. We need to give him time to adapt, but we must be pleased with his performance today." Chelsea were overrun in the first 30 minutes and fell three behind to Bayern, but Conte played down the significance of his side's sluggish start. "For sure, to l…

Northern senators reject restructuring bill

In a major upset for the clamour for restructuring, the  Northern Senate Wednesday rejected the constitution alteration bill seeking the devolution of powers that would have moved some items from the bloated Exclusive List in the 1999 Constitution to the Concurrent List, which would have given more powers to the states. The Land Use Act and affirmative action bills also suffered defeats in the upper legislative chamber during the electronic voting on the 33 bills presented to amend the 1999 Constitution. Of the 33 bills, the lawmakers passed 29 and rejected four.
They voted overwhelmingly in favour of bills seeking to reduce executive powers by removing the power of the executive arm of government to make laws, and provided procedures for overriding a presidential veto, in the event the president withholds assent to a legislation.
The devolution of powers bill, which sought to alter the Second Schedule, Part I & II of the constitution, was defeated with 48 no votes. Forty-six senat…

Battery draining fast? See how to make it last longer

The days when cell phones could survive for a week on a single charge are dead and gone. Sure, the phones of yesterday could last what seems like eons between charges, but they also could do little more than make phone calls. Today's phones are modern marvels, functioning as pint-sized computers that allow us to play 3D games, snap photos of our food, and navigate the world without having to ask anyone other than Siri for directions. Sadly, however, the battery on most smartphones has yet to catch up with the high-battery consumption of many apps, which takes a toll on on your phone's longevity. Our guide will help you make the most of your smartphone battery, so you can stretch and extend the time span between charges. POWER DOWN Obviously this isn’t always an option, but if you don’t have reception or you're going to sleep, then turning your phone off is the easiest way to save battery life. TURN OFF BLUETOOTH AND WI-FI Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are power-hungry features, so …

Unbelievable!!! Meet a human being with 2 heads

A woman in Bangladesh gave birth late Wednesday evening to a daughter with two heads. The unnamed child reportedly only has one set of vital organs, and is currently receiving treatment for 'breathing difficulties," the AFP reports. It's not immediately clear why the Bangladeshi girl was born with two heads. Throughout history, rare cases of both humans and animals with two heads have been reported. In 2007, paleontologists uncovered a 120-million-year-old fossil of an ancient reptile that had two distinct heads and necks, an abnormality still seen in reptiles in the present day. Although most are not well-understood, there are many different congenital cephalic disorders that can result in the birth of a child with two heads and/or faces: Craniopagus parasiticus is an extremely rare condition that occurs when an embryo containing identical twins fails to split completely, leaving an underdeveloped parasitic twin that remains attached to a fully developed child. In Februa…

Real Madrid top striker set to join CHELSEA FOR for £80m

The Spain international must now agree personal terms and pass a medical to complete the transfer. The 24-year-old would be the Premier League champions' fourth signing of the summer, after goalkeeper Willy Caballero, defender Antonio Rudiger and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. Morata scored 20 goals last season after rejoining Real from Juventus. He won La Liga and the Champions League, but the majority of his appearances were as a substitute. Morata could replace Spain team-mate Diego Costa, who says he has been told by manager Antonio Conte that he is no longer in Chelsea's plans. Manchester United had been interested in Morata prior to signing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku for an initial £75m. "I'm going to the team managed by the coach who has placed the most faith in me, and that's great for me," Morata told AS on Wednesday. Morata joined Real Madrid's youth team in 2008 and was handed his senior debut aged 18 in 2010.

The 6ft 3in striker moved to Ita…

We will fight any group trying to stop elections in Anambra State - police

The Anambra State Police Commissioner, Garba Umar has warned that security agencies in the state will deal decisively with any group that threatens to disrupt the upcoming governorship election in the state. Recall that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had recently asked people of the state to boycott elections in the state and the South East in general until a referendum is granted by the Federal Government. However, Umar, in a statement he issued after a meeting of the Heads of security agencies in Anambra State said such directive will not be tolerated. How to watch all TV shows you want without paying a dime

the video entertainment you want without paying a massive cable bill—a.k.a. cord cutting—has gone from a tech-world fantasy to a viable mainstream option in what seems like a matter of months. The reason? The recent emergence of new streaming services like Dish Network’s Sling TV, which includes a sampling of the most popular “basic” cable channels, and HBO Now, the only streaming service to include HBO shows, has coincided with Amazon and Netflix coming into their own as producers of serious television. The result is that virtually every class of TV watcher can find most of what they need without paying a cable bill. But with all this choice comes the challenge of understanding these new and unfamiliar services—and figuring out which combination of them would serve your needs at the lowest price.
One approach is to use one of the cord-cutting “calculators” at sites like The Vergeand Slate, which allow users to pick out which services they’re interested in and then tally up your savi…
